lysander Preschool Newsletter - Summer Term

We wanted to send you an update on some of the things that will be

happening at Preschool over the next few weeks and any information we need

to share with you.

Themes

Over the last few weeks, we have covered many different themes. Some of

these have been Feelings, Healthy Eating and Animals around the World. Over

the remaining part of the time, we will be covering under the sea, holidays,

and transition to school for our older ones. We will be adding photos of our

activities to our Facebook page.

Last week we ate the rainbow!

Each day we had a colour theme to try healthy foods

Monday- Red- Strawberries and Raspberries

Tuesday- Blue- Blueberries and Plums

Wednesday- Green- Apples and Cucumber

Thursday- Yellow- Bananas and Sweetcorn

Friday- Orange- Satsumas and Carrots.

As part of our Healthy Eating Campaign, we would like to ask you to continue

to support this with the children's snack box. We would ask that children

ideally bring healthy snacks such as fruit, sandwich, a yoghurt etc We would

ask that chocolate or overly sugary products are kept for treats at home. We

are very lucky that our children's lunch boxes have been looking very healthy

lately. We would also like to remind you that because of allergies we would ask

items do not contain any nuts.

Hot Weather

As the weather is getting hot, we would like to ask you to make sure your

children have sun cream applied before arriving at Preschool. Although it can

be kept in their bag, we do not have time to apply cream to all the children

each morning. We would only apply if a parent had forgotten, or we really

think a child needs an extra application. We try and make sure the children

have time outside whatever the weather, we will provide shaded areas and not

allow them in the sun at the hottest times. We also make sure the children

have drinks of water throughout the morning and they wear their hats outside

on sunny days. The children all had so much fun last week playing in the water.

Fundraising

We were very lucky to receive community funding from Co-op last year and we

have been thinking hard about items to purchase to enhance Preschool. Some

of the lovely items have been ordered and we are hoping to receive them

before some of you move on.

As ever, we would like to thank you for your continued support in sending in

items for the Preschool and purchasing items from the Amazon wish list. We

have received some lovely items.

Some of the items we are always happy to receive are tissues, hand soap(non-

perfumed) and anti-bacterial disinfectant spray. We would also be grateful for

paper/card for the children to draw and paint on if anyone has access to this.

Plus, please think of us if you have any items that could be used for collage

such as wool, buttons, sequins, stickers, ribbons. We would also like to collect

different pieces of material for our tabletop displays.

The link for our Amazon wish list is in the email attached to this newsletter.
